South Lake Tahoe is a beautiful place with so much to do. The population is 34,000 including the Stateline area.

Surrounded by mountains, the present day lake sits in a valley at an elevation of 6,229 feet. It is the highest lake of its size in the United States. It is the third deepest lake in North America and the tenth deepest lake in the world. This breathtakingly blue lake is so clear that in some places objects can be  seen to depths of 75 feet! The reason the lake is so blue is that the thin, clear mountain air allows the lake’s pure, crystalline water to reflect the blue sky above. The lake can also appear red during sunsets or gray-black during storms.

Lake Tahoe is known for many things. Today it is a major tourist attraction. It is surrounded by a number of ski resorts. There are a variety of summer and winter outdoor recreations and tourist attractions all year round. There are so many attractions out there for people of all ages to enjoy.

Snow and skiing play a major part in Tahoe’s economy. As well as the 24 hour casinos around the lake. In the winter there are plenty of options for you to enjoy such as, skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating, sledding, tubing, snowmobiling and etc. In the summer there are many recreational activities such as hiking, boating, camping, fishing, golfing, horseback riding and of course mountain biking. You cannot go wrong with all the amenities that Lake Tahoe has to offer.
