Reach your Peak….at Heavenly’s Adventure Peak!

A few years ago, the United States Government passed an act that would allow year-round operations on certain National Parks Land for profit. As some of you may or may not know, Heavenly Mountain Resort in South Lake Tahoe operates mostly on National Forest lands. Because of this act, Vail Resorts was able to create a new concept for the mountain visitor and local: year-round outdoor activities!

Thus, Heavenly’s Epic Discovery at Adventure Peak was born. It’s been years in the making, and in the last couple Summers this new venture has really taken off. One of the most exciting things about this “newer” enterprise is that it offers something year-round for the Summer visitors and families. It creates seasonal and year-round employment for locals. Getting people up on the mountain in the off-season is a huge goal for Vail Resorts and what they’re trying to achieve.

So, what exactly IS Adventure Peak and Epic Discovery? Let me introduce you to the plethora of activities that include: Zip lines, Ropes Courses, Summer Tubing, Guided Hiking tours by actual Forest Service members (with information about the local flora and fauna of Tahoe), and Climbing Walls! There are also Canopy Tour Zip Lines and of course, live music complete with plenty of food and beverages!

It can be a perfect day trip for visiting families, couples; but also could double as an extreme team-building work retreat for companies both local and remote. Given the excellent location right in the Heavenly Village (of course, you have to take the Gondola to the top), you can plan a great team-building work retreat or day-trip for your family or to challenge yourself as a local to hone your climbing skills on one of the amazing rock walls!

Of course, if you’re not apt to flying down a metal cable going 65MPH, you can always head up the Gondola for the scenic ride, enjoy the live music and imbibe in some food or drink while you watch the activities happening right in front of you. The Ropes Courses have 3 levels, small for children, medium for teens/adults, and the toughest level in which you will be 50 feet off the ground. The BlueStreak Zip Line is a couple hundred feet long and you reach speeds up to 65MPH, all while enjoy a smattering of Lake Tahoe’s incredible blue views from on top the world!

The KRZ at Adventure Peak is designed specifically for children. It features the Bear Cub Ropes Course and Red Tail Zip Line. Your kiddos are in great hands with the competent and FUN staff members. Stick around and watch children as young as 2 traverse their way through the challenges! Don’t forget your sunscreen!
