Your October 2016 Event Guide – Week Two

October got off to a great start with our first snow of the year and awesome food and beer served at Oktoberfest.  As I said before October is one of the best months of the year.  Why?  Because the weather is nice and there are a ton of fun things going on during the slow season.  Locals have a little more time off too, just in time to enjoy some nice weather before winter!  This weekend promises to be another buffet of things to do and good food.  Below is your weekend event schedule:

Alpine Aspen Festival

Just a short drive away in Markleeville on the 8th & 9th is the Alpine Aspen Festival.  The Alpine Aspen Festival is a nature lover’s dream vacation.  They will have a bunch of activities like a Professional Photography Workshop, Live Music, and Yoga in the Trees.  You can also lend a hand with the conservation effort to keep the forest and Carson River.  This festival celebrates the aspen tree for many reasons.  Aspens are really important for water filtration in the Carson River.  So come out to see the fall colors and get in touch with nature.

Fall Food Festival

Head over to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino to get your fill of Culinary delights this Saturday.  The Fall Food Festival features a bunch of restaurants from around South Lake Tahoe.  Tickets are $45 in advance or $50 at the door on Saturday the 8th.  The festival is a benefit for the Lake Tahoe Education foundation.  They are responsible for funding a bunch of enrichment grants in all of the schools in the Lake Tahoe School District so you can get your grub on and help out our local kids!

This weekend is going to be a great chance to kick back and enjoy Tahoe so get out and take a walk to your favorite beach or hiking area before going to one of the many awesome events this weekend.  Stay tuned for more October event schedules as the month proceeds!
