Your October 2016 Event Guide – 10/14 to 16

Hey folks, its time for the next installment of your October Weekend Event guide.  We have had a great first half of the month and there’s still two more weekends to go!  Not to mention all the great stuff that’s happening on Halloween!  Expect rain and snow in the higher elevations on Friday this week too.

Moonhouse Brewhouse October Full Moon Bashbeer and mountains

The Moonhouse Brewhouse will be hosting a Full Moon Bash on the 15th.  Make sure to bring your flannel shirt, hunter hat, and or camo to join in all the fun.  This relatively new Brewery in South Lake Tahoe has an intense focus on local community and celebrating all of the great things tahoe has to offer.  They are having their chef’s craft a special dinner for this night and donations to the Full Moon Bash will go to their Sewer Unit Fund.  If beer isn’t your thing they also serve some of the best espresso in Tahoe!

Corral Trail Night Mountain Bike Ridecostume-bike-ride

What began as a birthday tradition for a local woman has morphed into one of the most entertaining bike ride events of the year.  Now hosted by TAMBA, riders will meet at the Corral Parking area near the intersection of Goldenbear and Pioneer Trail at 5:30 on the 15th.  Bring your halloween costume and put your poker face on because this ride is a “Poker Ride” too!  Participants will go to each checkpoint of the course and collect cards with which they’ll try to make the best poker hand they can.  If you’re interested in participating or would like to volunteer email the event coordinators at info@tamba.org or go to the website to find out more.

Meyers Outdoor Gear Swapwinter snowshoe

Getting all of that winter gear you need can be an expensive endeavor, and it’s looking like we’re going to need it.  Luckily the Meyers Outdoor Gear Swap can help.  There will be tons of winter and summer gear for sale.  Everything you need from hats, gloves, and snowboards to paddleboards and canoes.  You can bring your gear to sell too! All merchandise may be no more than 5 years old and there is a small registration fee for selling.  If you’re looking to do some good for your community, you can also bring in donations for the Meyers Community Foundation.  They are dedicated to building a better community for the residents of the Meyers area.  By hosting events like the gear swap and the Annual OMG Fun Run, they give everyone the chance to make friends and do good for one another.

This weekend seems like a quiet one but we’re going to need a little down time before snow hits and the town gets busy again.  Not to mention all of the fun things going on for the next 2 weekends.  I hope you all take some time to enjoy some of these great community events and enjoy the weather!
