Your October 2016 Event Guide – Week One

October is by far one of my favorite months of the year.  The weather is perfect, not too hot and not too cold, and there is a ton of stuff to do!  This is also the best time of year to catch the fall colors and maybe even get our first snow of the year.  With so many events and festivals I figured it would be a good idea to make an event guide.  This way you can pick which events are the best for you or try to see them all!  This is the first installment of a month full of fun so stay tuned for more.

Oktoberfest at Camp Richardson oktoberfest color

Come to your favorite beach in Tahoe to discover a new favorite beer!  This two day festival is held Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm.  It features events ranging from a dog and owner costume contest, beer stein holding, and yodeling!  It’s a great choice for the whole family!

Kokanee Salmon Festival at Taylor Creek Visitor Center

Rejoice along with Tahoe wildlife that the Kokanee Salmon have returned for their spawning season!  The festival is on the 1st and 2nd from 10am to 4pm.  These fish play an integral role in the Lake Tahoe ecosystem by providing a food source to some of Tahoe’s cutest residents like the Black Bear.  This is a free educational event for the whole family!

Oktoberfest at the American Legion Post 795

If you want to attend an oktoberfest event but also want to help the community, this is the event for you!  The American Legion is widely known around town for holding charitable events.  This one features a traditional German dinner and live music by the Cash Only Band.  The event is held alongside a food and toy drive for christmas cheer, so don’t forget some new toys and non-perishables.  It starts around 4pm on the 1st and tickets go fast so don’t forget to stop by the Legion at 2748 Lake Tahoe Blvd to get yours.

This is only the first weekend of October with many more events and activities to come so stay tuned for more!
