The Bijou Bash Event was very successful! If you are not familiar with the Bijou Community Park let me explain a little more about this great place. Bijou Community Park is South Lake Tahoe’s only true community park. Located at 1201 Al Tahoe Blvd, it was constructed in 1992. The park offers diverse recreation opportunities to both residents and visitors. Bijou Park is known primarily for its world class disc golf course, which is home to nationally recognized tournaments every year. It doesn’t end with disc golf, however. The park combines many options with a great layout to form one of the few popular summer spots off of Lake Tahoe. It provides fun activities for the whole family (and their pets). The Park has two covered gazebos with barbeque pits. Both are available for rental and can be reserved through the City of South Lake Tahoe Parks and Recreation Department (530) 542-6056. Besides the BBQ gazebos and the disc golf course you’ll find a Skateboard/BMX Park, Volleyball Courts (on sand), Basketball Court, Fitness course, Open meadow (great for walking, exercising or just relaxing), Horseshoe Pits and a big fenced dog park where you can have your dogs playing and running unleashed.
Now let’s talk about the Bijou Bash event that happened last Saturday on September 11th on the Bijou Community Park.
It was a beautiful sunny day in South Lake Tahoe and a lot of people showed up with their kids and dogs. I think we should have more events like this in Town; it was very entertaining and informative. Some of the attractions were Skate Board Contest and BMX Bike Demos, kids Fun Zone that included an Obstacle Course, Dual Racing Slide, Bungee Run, Velcro Wall and Bounce House, a wide variety of food vendors from our community, Local Businesses, Dog Agility Course, Stage Performances, Heavy Equipment Displays and more. It was fun for the whole family, there were activities and contests for Kids of all ages.
